The Cape Cod Commission Act envisioned a broad-based approach to economic development, one that recognizes the importance of Cape Cod's environment to its economy. The Commission is charged, under the Act, to "ensure balanced economic development" that will provide quality jobs today and preserve the natural resources, beauty, and heritage of Cape Cod for the next generation.
The Cape Cod Commission conducts research and surveys to better understand the nature of Cape Cod’s regional economy and provides technical assistance on economic topics for the 15 towns of Cape Cod. The Regional Policy Plan sets the growth policy and Economy goals for Barnstable County and governs the review of Development of Regional Impact, while the Comprehensive Economics Development Strategy establishes the economic development implementation plan.
