Bike rack subsidy program extended
The Cape Cod Commission received an additional $70,000 for its Bicycle Rack Program and has extended the duration of the program until June 30, 2018.
The program provides Barnstable County’s fifteen municipalities and other public entities the opportunity to install modern bicycle parking infrastructure on public property within the region at a reduced cost.
It provides full reimbursement for:
- bicycle racks
- related bike infrastructure (e.g. repair stations and shelters)
Installation and shipping costs are borne by eligible applicants as part of the local match funding mechanism.
This year the Cape Cod Commission joined the Metropolitan Area Planning Council’s (MAPC) collective procurement contract for bicycle parking racks and related infrastructure. MAPC contract pricing provides special discounts from vendors’ respective list prices. Please note that the MAPC pricelist is valid only until December 31, 2017.
This program is funded through the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Transportation Improvement Program using federal and state Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will provide program funding through the Cape Cod Commission.
Participation Guidelines documents are available at www.capecodcommission.org/bikeracks. The deadline applications is June 30, 2017.
