New and Second Homeowner Survey Results | Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors and Community Development Partnership

In 2021, the Cape Cod Commission issued a pair of surveys designed to better understand pandemic-related changes in the region. Results of the 2021 New and Second Homeowners surveys are now available, and in February 2022, staff presented those results to two community groups. Cape Cod Commission Executive Director Kristy Senatori and Deputy Director Erin Perry joined the Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors monthly webinar on February 1, 2022, and Cape Cod Commission Chief Planner Chloe Schaefer and Community Development Planner Chelsea Bruck Bennouna presented the survey results to the Community Development Partnership during its bimonthly Community Conversation, held on February 9, 2022. 

Planning for a Resilient Economy | Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce  

The Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Economic Forecast on March 1, 2022. The event highlights trends, opportunities, and obstacles that are anticipated to impact businesses in the future. Cape Cod Commission Executive Director Kristy Senatori was among the featured speakers for this year’s event, joining Barnstable Town Manager Mark Ells, State Representative Tim Whelan, Cape Cod Five President Bert Talerman, and Housing Assistance Corporation CEO Alisa Magnotta. Kristy’s presentation, “Planning for a Resilient Economy,” reviewed the region’s population, economy, and pandemic-related shifts.  

Climate Change in Orleans: What We Can Expect? | Orleans Citizens Forum 

In late February, the Orleans Citizens Forum launched a series of virtual meetings focused on climate change. The first forum, held on February 28, 2022 shared insights into future impacts of climate change in Orleans and how the town is preparing for such impacts. Cape Cod Commission Deputy Director Steven Tupper joined Orleans Selectboard member Kevin Galligan and Orleans Energy and Climate Action Committee Chair Susan Chandler for the discussion.  

Let's Talk About Climate Change and the Local Economy | Martha's Vineyard Commission

On March 7, 2022, Cape Cod Commission Deputy Director Erin Perry joined a panel of local climate planners and businesspeople for a virtual panel discussion hosted by the Martha's Vineyard Commission. The panel discussed climate change impacts to the economy, climate change-related job opportunities, diversifying the economy, and the big picture of economic sustainability. 

Our Vital Gateway: The Future of the Cape Cod Canal Bridges | Harvard Club of Cape Cod 

Cape Cod Commission Deputy Director Steven Tupper spoke to the Harvard Club of Cape Cod on March 17, 2022, discussing the future of the Cape Cod Canal bridges. Steve discussed ongoing plans to replace the 85-year old structures and redesign the surrounding roadways.
