Falmouth Complete Streets Public Comment Period Open
Seeking transportation improvement suggestions now through February 5, 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (January 19, 2021) -- Do you have ideas on improving travel in Falmouth? Would you like to see new sidewalks or crosswalks, perhaps accommodations for bicyclists like bike paths and bike lanes? Would you like to improve safety and encourage residents to walk and bike?
The Town of Falmouth is seeking to improve the travel experience along its streets through the development of a Complete Streets prioritization plan. A Complete Street provides accommodations for all users including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and persons with disabilities.
With funding provided by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Town of Falmouth has retained the services of the Cape Cod Commission to develop this plan. The purpose of this study is to explore transportation improvement alternatives that will reduce conflicts, improve traffic flow, and incorporate multi-modal transportation options in Falmouth while furthering the creation of vibrant, pedestrian and bicycle oriented mixed-use centers throughout the town.
A public comment period for the Falmouth Complete Streets Prioritization Plan is open now through February 5, 2021.
A new, interactive public comment tool is available. Using the tool, areas of town that are challenging for all roadway users can be easily identified, including motor vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders. To use the tool, simply enter an address or use the map to zoom in to a specific area. Next, select a mode of travel from the menu on the right and click on the map to drop a pin. Add your comments and suggestions to the box that appears.
Those wishing to submit public comment may do so using the interactive tool, by sending an email to colleen.medeiros@capecodcommission.org, or speaking with staff at 508-744-1226.
Input gathered will help the Cape Cod Commission understand the multimodal issues and opportunities in Falmouth. Based on the information from this meeting, improvements in Falmouth will be listed in a Prioritization Plan that will help the town gain access to state and federal funding.
Please consider providing your feedback, by Friday, February 5, 2021, so the town can move forward with prioritizing future Complete Streets projects. For more information, visit the project website at:www.capecodcommission.org/falmouthcompletestreets
